Nokia seems to be working on much more than what the rumours suggest regarding its budget Android smartphone. It is now being rumoured that besides the Nokia X (also known as Nokia Normandy), the Finnish firm might also be working on two more Android smartphones.

The two rumoured Nokia handsets are said to include more high-end specifications than what is rumoured for the Nokia X. While the purported Nokia XX will come with better specifications than its single X version, the third handset, which is yet to be allotted a name, is speculated to fall under the firm's flagship line-up with high-end specifications.

Reports from tech.qq.com also mention that these two rumoured Android-based handsets by Nokia would not see the light of day at the MWC 2014 event. This further indicates that Nokia X might only be a mere experiment by the firm to study the market' response for the smartphone, based on which the other two handsets will take shape.

Talking about the Nokia X, it has been understood that the handset is tipped to have entered mass production at a Komarom plant in Hungary.

A Hungarian site claims that the Nokia X entered mass production in the company's Komarom plant a few weeks ago, a plant that notably saw reduction in its workforce as a part of job cuts that the Finnish company announced back in 2012.

The site also suggests that the Komarom plant is manufacturing the Nokia X, previously dubbed Nokia Normandy in multiple colours. Further, the site claims that Nokia X will not feature any Google Services or even support the Play Store, which is very much in-line with earlier reports.

Google announces Project Tango, a smartphone that can map the world around it

Google has built a prototype Android smartphone that can learn and map the world around it. The device comes from a new initiative called Project Tango, and it's ready to get the phone into developers' hands to see what the technology is capable of. Google says that the phone will learn the dimension of rooms and spaces just by being moved around inside of them — walking around your bedroom, for example, would help the phone learn the shape of your home. The hope is that by creating a robust map of the world, Google's phone could eventually give precise directions to any given point that needs to be reached.

It's an ambitious project, but that should be no surprise given who it's coming from: Tango comes out of the Advanced Technology and Projects group — one of the few pieces of Motorola that Google has opted to hang on to rather than sell. "The goal of Project Tango is to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion," says Johnny Lee, leader of Project Tango. Google has 200 devices that it's preparing to give out to developers who want to build mapping tools, games, and new algorithms that take advantage of the phone's sensors, and it expects to send them all out by March 14th.

The Tango devices work by using a motion tracking camera and a depth sensor built into their backsides. While being moved around, the sensors will detect their orientation and what's in front of them, using that data to build out a 3D map of their surroundings. While the basic goal is to create detailed indoor maps, Google's distribution of developer devices speaks to the other possibilities it sees coming out of this type of data: it suggests that Tango could be used to create more realistic augmented reality games or to assist the visually impaired when they're navigating an unfamiliar area.

Google stresses that the technology is still in early stages, but it still sees it as on the way to reaching millions of people down the road. And now, the Advanced Technology and Projects group will have plenty of time and resources to make that happen. Alongside the announcement of Tango, Android chief Sundar Pichai extended a welcome to the team, suggesting that they've now fully fallen underneath Google. The group is also responsible for Project Ara, which hopes to build modular smartphones.

Project Tango appears to be a natural fit for Lee's leadership. Lee's name may be familiar from his work creating virtual reality tools out of a Wii remote while at Carnegie Mellon, and later for helping Microsoft develop the Kinect. He joined Google in 2011, and clearly he's still been working on equally ambitious motion-tracking projects since then. Google says it did not create Tango all on its own, however, but with assistance from various universities and research institutions as well. The project has been in the works at the Advanced Technologies group for the past year.

The market has been curious for some time now about Apple’s iPhone 6. Reports and rumours about the specs of the device have been surfacing non-stop. More interesting are the set of leaked photos that came up. Reports claim Apple’s iPhone 6 will feature two display sizes: 4.7 and 5.5 inches. Unlike the glass or plastic cutouts previously associated with the upcoming device, it seems the next Apple smartphone will have an aluminium body. What will the next iPhone look like?

Samsung will be announcing the Samsung Galaxy S5 this Feb 24. This means all eyes are also on its biggest competitor, Apple. According to reports, Apple will be announcing the iPhone 6 around June or September. Despite a few months more into the timeline, reports and rumours about the device have spread.

The most interesting of these reports is Apple's plan on offering two iPhone 6 variants: one smartphone and one phablet. As mentioned, these will have 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays. Apple device leaker Sonny Dickson has something to add to these reports. Likewise,MacRumors have also posted more leaked photos of the device.

According to the leaked images, the featured device is the prototype of the iPhone 6. The photos were reportedly shared with the site by an anonymous Twitteruser. There are no confirmations whether the photos really feature the iPhone 6, but leaks have proven useful previously. Dickson posted the photos on his Twitteraccount with the label "teasers." He did not offer other details about the photos.

An update posted on BGR says that a Reddit user presented convincing arguments about the photos. The user claimed that the photos do not feature the iPhone 6. They are renders from a graphic designer back in late 2013. Other reported details about the device include a sapphire screen, Sony FaceTime camera module and thinner design.

There are no further details about the specs. Apple will have to provide an announcement yet for the actual release of the device. Analysts believe the company will be pushing standards for the next iPhone 6. The company has been investing in interesting patents like solar panels and wireless charging.

Nokia X budget Android smartphone teased in images ahead of MWC 2014

Nokia seems to be leaving no stone unturned in an attempt to promote the expected launch of its first Android phone. The Finnish giant has now released teaser images ahead of the much-anticipated Nokia X (aka Normandy) launch.

Notably, the Nokia X teaser images do not reveal much about the upcoming device, but it explicitly shows an 'X' mark in a couple of the images. The images have been posted on Nokia's Weibo site, which is the equivalent of Twitter in China. The first teaser image shows two monkeys: one standing below a tree and another on the tree.

We expect that the Finnish giant is indicating that there might be two devices unveiled at the MWC event scheduled for 24 February. At this point of time, we only know about the long-rumoured Nokia X, earlier known as Nokia Normandy which has been in news since last year, though there are more than a few Windows Phone offerings also supposedly due at the event.

The second Nokia X teaser image shows a tree with its DNA-shaped helix roots visible, clearly depicting an 'X' mark. The third teaser image shows a pirate treasure map with green-coloured 'X' mark is formed by negative spaces between the arrows pointing inwards.

Nokia also started a countdown page for the MWC event on its official Conversations blog, with a clear 'X' marked, similar to that seen on the teaser map image.

On Monday, Nokia X's alleged press image was leaked, which further cemented the authenticity of the name. The purported press images were leaked via the phone tipster, @evleaks. The post, with an image of a green-colour variant of the handset, seemingly confirmed the name as Nokia X amidst a number of rumours crowding around the device for weeks.

The Nokia X, besides being said to fall between the Asha and Lumia line-up, is said to feature a 4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 480x854 (FWVGA) pixels; a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor; 5-megapixel rear camera; microSD card support and Android 4.4 KitKat. The device was recently spotted under a listing page on a Vietnamese online retailer website.

The Nokia X handset was previously said to sport a 5-megapixel rear camera, however the CamSpeed benchmark hinted that the handset would arrive with a lower 3-megapixel camera.
