With Google announcing the Android 5.0 Lollipoplast Wednesday, this new OS update is expected to be featured in a wide range of Android devices.
Motorola has already come up with a list of phones that have been currently set to obtain the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
At present, the Android 5.0 Lollipop has been slotted to be made available for the Moto X, Moto X (2014), Moto G, Moto G (2014), Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, Motorola DROID Ultra, Motorola DROID Maxx and Motorola DROID Mini.
According to Motorola, the company has not settled on a final date as to when the OS update will be rolling out to such devices, but it has been rumored that unlocked handsets may obtain the Android 5.0 Lollipop update sooner than expected.
Speculations are also pointing to a possible update for the Moto X, G, E and DROID devices this November or December.
Motorola has promised to release details about the other devices after they have coordinated with their "various partners," including mobile carriers that are supporting such phones, and have figured out the process for update distribution.
The company also made the official announcement that they have collaborated with Google to come up with the new Moto Nexus 6, known to be the first smartphone that will be made available with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Additionally, the new Moto DROID Turbo will be announced and be made available by Verizon Wireless. It is expected to run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and is likely to be added to Motorola's official list of phones ready for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
The Android 5.0 SDK will reportedly be made available starting today, Oct. 17, and the first device that will be installed with it is Google's Nexus 9 when released this coming Nov. 3.
